Shortly after graduation, Mr. Orlando gained admission to practice within the following additional jurisdictions: U.S. District Court, District of New Jersey (1989); District of Columbia (Washington, D.C.); State Bar of Georgia; U.S. District Court, Northern District of Georgia; U.S. Court of Appeals, Eleventh Circuit (1991); and U.S. District Court, Middle District of Georgia (1992). Mr. Orlando spent the earlier part of his legal career defending insurance companies and self-insured businesses against consumer allegations of injury as a result of the negligent acts or omissions of others. Now Roger is making good use of his insurance-defense experience. Roger has chosen never again to represent insurance companies, and will only represent individuals who have suffered catastrophic injury as a result of the negligence of others. Insurance companies are operated by accountants with little or no regard for the human consequences of injuries caused by their insureds or businesses. Roger has chosen to fight for the average citizen, seeking a just remedy for injuries suffered by real people. Many years ago, an Atlanta attorney of the "old guard" casually informed Roger that a trial lawyer "wins some, and loses some." Under this premise, it would not be surprising to think that the older lawyer would expect to lose as many trials as he wins, and somehow be satisfied with that result. For a decade and a half, Roger has been a trial lawyer with his own style and accomplishments. Roger operates under the motto: "Losing [a trial] is like dying." From the first meeting with a client, Roger begins in his mind to prepare his closing argument in case a trial becomes necessary. Thinking proactively, and leaving no stone unturned, often helps lead to enhanced and even surprising results. Treating a loss gravely - something to be avoided at almost any cost - keeps this trial lawyer in top form and striving for perfection at every turn. "It’s not over until I win." Roger
W. Orlando was first admitted to practice before the State Bar of
New Jersey in 1988, after four years of undergraduate and three years of
post-graduate study at Emory University’s School of Law (B.A., 1984;
Juris Doctor, 1987) in Atlanta, Georgia. While in law school, Mr.
Orlando received the distinction of being elected by his peers to serve
as the Coordinating Director of the Moot Court Board (a trial advocacy
organization), was elected as a member of the Moot Court Society, and
received the National Order of Barristers award.
